Begin to Stop, Look and Listen to the tranquilizing, mesmerizing, energizing sounds of nature.

Let it flow through your soul

Until you reach your visualizing goal.

Absorb the marvelous sunlight glistening against the lake, river or ocean, along with a tranquil breeze, setting you at ease.

Look at the beauty and hear the relaxing sound of one of the grand waterfalls of the world.

Man and woman are God’s greatest creation I see!

It’s truly on us to be all we can be!

What’s the legacy we want our children to emulate?

Have we prepared them, so they won’t hesitate?

The miracle of a baby to be born

For all to rejoice and adorn.

Watch the majestic eagle beautiful, powerful wingspan soaring over

snow capped mountains.

Picture the vibrant elegant pink to orange flamingos lined up drinking water, before takeoff in unison around a river or lake.

Did you see and hear the peaceful flock of doves flapping

their wings to begin their flight?

The garden of exotic flowers from around the world, that spans along the colors of the Spectrum with their soothing fragrant scents.

Morning dew is sprinkled on the leaves of flowers.

Perennial flowers and trees bloom like precision clockwork every year, with their own internal clock.

The sheer amazement of watching

 a spider’s web and intricacy of a beehive.

We see sunlight shining through water droplets

to form an amazing rainbow.

We see awesome beautiful green pastures, tropical islands, rainforests, crests, meadows, winter wonderlands, scenic beauty of autumn trees and their leaves, countryside landscapes ready to be in a picture frame as another masterpiece by God!

The enchanting magical glow of the moon

Can leave you in an awe-inspiring swoon.

Sapphire skies, sky blue skies, starlit skies, and moonlit nights form a backdrop for stars to sparkle like diamonds in the

Midnight Blue for all to view.

Simplistic, but miraculous planting of seeds to give us what we need to harvest a cornucopia of fruits and vegetables.

The Earth gives us oil, platinum, diamonds, gold, silver, sapphires, emeralds, and rubies to name a few to share,

but somehow it ends up not fair.

God created and designed the Earth for all of us to survive and thrive.

There should be enough food for everyone to have A Place In The Sun!





The genesis of my book, Investing in Your Health... You'll Love the Returns, came about from an immense desire to fulfill a legacy--a legacy enshrined in the virtue, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, endowed with certain inalienable rights: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." This is the law of the land... a promise that must be realized, as we progress into the 21st Century. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are values related to health. All women are equal to men in this legacy and play a vital role.


Another part of this legacy is to pass the proverbial torch of health to youth. This will make health a glorifying tradition. We as adults must take our rightful place as Gatekeepers to open the Health Gate to our rich traditional history for our youth.


My goal is to assist people in analyzing their health practices. I propose to do this by providing provocative and insightful health information from researched data. I will provide a Decision-Making Model Framework and a working definition of health for you to analyze your personal health practices.


I will introduce innovative ways to empower you, regarding your health perspectives. This book will be comprised of eight chapters, as follows:


Why Health?, Games People Play, Eating Traditions, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly of Fat, Sleep, Let the Healing and Dreams Begin, Tackling Heart Disease The #1 Killer of Americans, Healthy Recipes, Passing the Health Torch to this Generation of Youth.

As it was since the beginning of time, what's one of humanity's most prized possessions? Think about it for a moment. Hopefully, you said your health, as one of your prized possessions! Many of the health diseases and illnesses (like heart disease, the number one killer of Americans) can be prevented and reversed with nutrition and lifestyle changes. For me, one vital aspect of health is being the best you can be. The following words from a song called, "Children of the Sun," by a 1970s group called Mandrill, come to mind:


Children (all children of the world) of the sun

Gaze into your minds to catch a fleeting glimpse of time

Realizing yesterday's world

Where Kings and Queens rode the night to mold your tomorrow

Today we are there, shine forth, shine on, shine onnnnnnnn

Going, going, going to be, to be free yeah


This song inspired me then and it inspires me now! I feel you should be in the best health possible! Be all you can be! I feel a supreme honor and duty to give back to our youth! Our youth deserves the best from us!


This book "Investing in Your Health... You'll Love the Returns" has eight objectives as follows:


To provide youth and adults with health information to improve their health lifestyle

To provide my personal constructive criticism (which builds up) about our health status quo, as opposed to destructive criticism (which tears down)

To analyze the importance of a health legacy

To incorporate Financial Health Principles as a required part of health

To instill a sense of urgency relating to analyzing our health practices

To provide reasons why our school system should consider health a major subject and not a minor subject

To make you laugh or put a smile on your face

To pass the Health Torch of health to this generation of Youth and Adults




Far too many people worldwide are dying from diseases and suffering from illnesses that can be prevented in many cases. If these illnesses can't be prevented, they can be reversed to some degree. In an article entitled, Top 10 Leading Causes of Death in the U.S. by Hannah Nichols, she lists the Top 10 Causes of Death in the U.S. including: heart disease, cancer, chronic lower respiratory disease, accidents (unintentional injuries), stroke (cerebrovascular disease), Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, influenza and pneumonia, kidney disease, and suicide.

Amazingly out of this top list of 10, all can be prevented with the exception of Alzheimer's and type I diabetes (juvenile-onset which accounts for about 5% of young people diagnosed with diabetes). Alzheimer's can't be prevented according to medical research. As an optimist I feel medical research just might not be aware of a cure for Alzheimer's, respectfully.

For instance, Dr. Jonny Bowden's book entitled “The Most Effective Natural Cures on Earth,” explains that Huperzine A has shown promise in an ongoing phase 2 clinical trial to evaluate the effectiveness of Huperzine A in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Huperzine A is a naturally occurring alkaloid that comes from the Huperzia serrata plant. It's also called the Chinese club moss plant. It has been used extensively in Chinese medicine for fevers and inflammation. Recently research has demonstrated that Huperzine A works in the brain in the prevention of the breakdown of a vital neurotransmitter needed for memory and cognition. Dr. Bowden recommends as added effectiveness to include Huperzine A at 60‑200 mcg., Vitamin E (mixed tocopherols) at 60-200 mcg., a daily antioxidant or vitamin supplement, Ginkgo biloba at 120-480 mg. in divided doses, Omega-3 fatty acids at 1-3 g per day. The National Institute on Aging is conducting these trials in about twenty-nine different medical centers and universities throughout the United States.

Also medical research from Hannah Nichols' article suggests there are procedures you can take that may help to delay the onset of acquiring dementia. It appears that the factors that increase the risk for heart disease have also been shown to increase the risk for Alzheimer's disease. In Chapter 4, I have a graph demonstrating the Alzheimer's Risk from Saturated Fat that was conducted by the Chicago Health and Aging Project. Here are a couple of health protocols you can follow to help delay the onset of Alzheimer's, as follows:


  • Follow a cardiovascular protocol, for examples stop smoking
  • Avoid excess alcohol
  • Eat a plant-based diet with a variety of fruits and vegetables
  • Stay away from red meat


I know it's hard to achieve, but try to do it gradually. If you can do cold turkey, fine. Get regular exercise (2.5 hours) 30 minutes for five days with two days off. Again, always check with your doctor first, before undertaking anything that I suggest.

There's remarkable good news for adults. Type 2 diabetes (adult-onset accounts for 90-95% of all diagnoses cases of diabetes). According to Hannah Nichols, "unlike with Type 1 Diabetes, there are numerous ways to reduce the risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. A number of studies have shown that regular physical activity can significantly reduce the risk, as can maintaining a healthy body weight (being obese or overweight increases the risk of Type 2 Diabetes and complications).”Also I would add a plant-based diet.

Our healthcare paradigm can benefit by changing from a sick care system to a prevention care system. People in general go to doctors when they are sick, whereas they should go to doctors to prevent illness.

Also, health is our prize possession, that's often taken for granted. Our health can be here today and slip away over a short period of time. Most of us need to reclaim our health! We have the power to control our health, if we don't, somebody else will! We make health choices daily that has an impact on our quality of life for us. We all need motivation to stay focused on making wise health decisions. You can reward yourself with a daily or weekly highly desirable healthy food item or event.

I am going to introduce a Decision-Making Model, and Financial Health Principles Model, which are not generally taught in schools. The Decision-Making Model and Financial Health Principles Model should be a requisite for all children in schools. I will address the Financial Health Principles Model part in Chapter 2 and 8. This is not a perfect system model that will solve all your health problems, but it is a fundamental practical model that can be helpful. Many of us do not have a practical health Problem Solving Model framework. You can write out the health problem using the Power Model for Decision-Making or think it out in your mind, whichever is better for you. This Problem-Solving Model acronym forms the word Power (think Power!). Say it to yourself, when you need to. I've got the Power! Again. I've got the Power! Keep saying it a few times, until you have a sense of elation and empowerment!

Youth and adults make decisions every day. You make a simple decision like what pants or skirt will I wear today, to more serious decisions involving subjects like sex, drugs, friends, parents, nutrition-food choices, money management, time- management, peer-pressure, employment, social media, self-worth (self-esteem) and school (education). This is just a few. There are skills that can help you make better decisions. As a skill, it takes practice. We know that when we want to be good in music, sports, school, and other endeavors, we have to practice the skill. You have to apply it to get better. Of course, this doesn't mean you'll make perfect decisions all the time, no one does, but it can dramatically improve the decisions you make. It's based on values (traits, relative worth, importance, characteristics that you hold dear or a strong belief in something, according to Webster's New Universal Unabridged Dictionary, 2001), like faith in God, fitness, honesty, loyalty, education, et cetera.

There are more examples of value words in Chapter 8, entitled: Passing the Health Torch To This Generation of Youth. I have an acronym P.O.W.E.R. (each letter represents a step). I want you to feel the P.O.W.E.R. and be EMPOWERED (if you are already feeling empowered, fine, perhaps there's a little room for improving your Decision-Making Skills). I Love Music, like the song by the O'Jays for inspiration. I Love Music, was a hit by the O'Jays in 1975. I encourage you to view the YouTube Video of the O'Jays performing on Soul Train with their apricot (light orange) outfits. As of February 25, 2016 “I Love Music” by the O'Jays has 727,957 views! For some added entertainment, view For The Love of Money on YouTube by the O'Jays. As I said earlier, I will address Financial Health Principles Model in Chapter 2 and Chapter 8. Financial principles are not generally equated with health. I'm hoping to emphasize the importance of financial principles and its relation to health. I just want to get you off to a Great Start! Another song, I've Got the Power! "The Power" is an electronic pop hit song by the German music group Snap! It's from their album World Power. It was released in January, 1990 and reached number one in the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. A hit in the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play and Hot Rap Charts. It went viral on YouTube as of February 21, 2016 with an amazing 11,679,671 views! I will refer you to music videos and movies to illustrate some points. I feel we all have different Learning Styles (Auditory, Visual and Kinesthetic/Tactile). Kinesthetic/Tactile is learning through Muscle Movement, which is Hands-On. Also, we are in the media and social media age. So at times, a song will come across my mind to enhance what I'm trying to say. This time, the song is, I've Got the Power! So I encourage you, to watch I've Got the Power by music group Snap! on YouTube. As I wrote about earlier, we all have different Learning Styles. To make a point or points, I have included YouTube videos. The YouTube videos cover auditory and visual learning styles, but not kinesthetic/tactile (movement). I love dancing and a lot of other people, as well! Dancing has the ability to make you feel good. Numerous research articles would attest to this. For example as follows:

In a study conducted in Poland, the Journal-European Journal of Sports Science, Volume 15, 2015-Issue 7, by Marcin Zajenkowski, Konrad S. Jankowski + Dada Kolata, titled, Let's Dance-feel better! Mood changes following dancing in different situations:

Mood was assessed before and after dance activity among competitive and recreational dancers. While the competitive dancers were admittedly just as stressed as any athlete practicing their routine, the recreational dancers reported higher energy, less tension, and a better, more creative mood than before.

According to Professor Joel Wade from his 2015 paper in the Human Ethology Bulletin, "dance is an adaptive behavioral pattern that communicates beauty, health, strength, and sexual attractiveness."

In my opinion, it will be a good idea to include the last part of Learning Styles, which is Kinesthetic/Tactile (movement). I couldn't help from thinking about the late, great David Bowie’s song Let's Dance of 1983. It was the number-one hit on Billboard Hot 100, in reference to the title previously similarly titled cited study Let's Dance-feel better! Mood changes following dancing in different situations.

I suggest and encourage you to Dance to the YouTube videos. And of course your personal favorite YouTube video songs, as well.

Dancing is an elated form of self-expression. Combined with music it leads to a nirvana state, to me personally.

It's nothing more to write about dancing. So let's get on the floor and Let's Dance!

The 2003 comedy movie, “Bruce Almighty” starring Jim Carrey and Morgan Freeman use the song I've Got the Power in one of their scenes. The movie is a comedy with a serious message, like taking charge of your own life and doing good work as the most holy of acts. In the movie, God presents opportunities to grow and learn, which I personally think are good ideas for health. This is also on YouTube. Bruce Almighty-Funny Outtakes and Bloopers, as of February 21, 2016 went viral and has amassed over 2,076,484 views! Bruce Almighty Bloopers has amassed 4,742,869 views. They also went viral! I love comedy movies also, which I will talk about in Chapter 6, entitled Tackling Heart Disease, #1 Killer of Americans.
